Alan Wayne Adkins

 

Most Worshipful Alan Wayne Adkins was born in Stuart, Virginia, on January 30, 1948. He graduated from Stuart High School, received an A. A. Degree in Business Administration from Ferrum College and a B.S. Degree in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University. He was employed by R. J. Reynolds - Patrick County Memorial Hospital from January 1973, as Assistant Administrator-Chief Financial Officer then Administrator until his election as Grand Secretary November 1997. He is a veteran of the United States Army.

 

Brother Adkins was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on September 11, 1971, in Mountain Home Lodge No. 263. He is a Life Member in Perpetuity and served as its Worshipful Master in 1977, and as Secretary from 1978 to 1991. He is currently the Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of California. He served as Grand Master of Masons in Virginia in 1997.

 

Brother Adkins holds honorary membership in Westhampton Lodge No. 302, where he is currently serving as Secretary, and holds honorary membership in eight other Lodges. He is a member of the Valley of Danville, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite and was invested Knight Commander Court of Honor in 1995 and coroneted a 33° Inspector General Honorary in 1999. He is a member of Martinsville Royal Arch Chapter No. 40, George W. Wright Commandery No. 31, and the William T. Buckner Council No. 130, Allied Masonic Degrees. He holds membership in Saint Polycarp Conclave, Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine; Virginia College Masonic Societas Rosicrucianna; King Darius Council No. 17, Knight Masons; Virginia Chapter of the Philalethes Society; Kazim Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S.; Roanoke Court No. 59, Royal Order of Jesters; Royal Order of Scotland and the National Sojourners, Richmond-Fort Lee Chapter. He is a Past Patron of Stuart Chapter No. 25, Order of Eastern Star. He is a recipient of the Honorary Legion of Honor from the International Order of DeMolay, the Christopher Champlin Medal from the Grand Lodge of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, and the George Washington Distinguished Service Medal from the Grand Lodge of Virginia.

         

He is married to the former Gerri Stone. They have a daughter, Amanda, who lives in San Jose, California, with her husband, Ryan, and a son, Robert, who is a recent graduate of San Jose State University. He is an active member and Deacon in Mechanicsville Baptist Church.
