Most Worshipful William Lee Holliday was born in
Richmond, Virginia, on April 16, 1939. He attended public schools in Norfolk
and Portsmouth and graduated from Granby High School. He was employed
continuously since 1972 by Jett and Company as an outside sales representative
of building materials until his retirement in 2006.
Brother Holliday was raised to the Sublime Degree
of Master Mason in Norview Lodge No. 113 on February 19, 1973. He is a Life Member
in Perpetuity and served as its Worshipful Master in 1983. He was District Deputy
Grand Master of Masonic District 35-B in 1992. He was Grand Pursuivant in 1993 and
Grand Marshal in 1994-1995 and is the Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Michigan,
near Virginia. He served as Grand Master of Masons in Virginia in 2000. He was elected to
the Office of Grand Treasurer in November 2004.
Brother Holliday holds honorary membership in six Lodges. He
is a Life member of the Valley of Norfolk, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. He was
invested Knight Commander Court of Honor in 1981 and was coroneted 33? Inspector General
Honorary in 1989. He serves as the personal representative of the Sovereign Grand
Inspector General in Virginia for the Valley of Norfolk. He is a member of Norview Royal
Arch Chapter No. 62, Grice Commandery No. 16, Jesse Albert White Council No. 110, Allied
Masonic Degrees, and Khedive Shrine Center, A.A.O.N.M.S. He is a member in perpetuity of
Hampton Roads Chapter No. 6, National Sojourners, a member of the Heroes of ’76 Yorktown
Encampment, and Charter member and Past Puissant Sovereign of Saint Thomas Conclave,
Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine.
He is married to the former Evelyn Matney. They have two
daughters, Angela, who resides in Chesapeake, Virginia with her two daughters, Leslie
Marie and Christina Lynn; and Sheila, who resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia with her
husband, David Cando, and their daughter, Hayley Elizabeth, and son, William Carmino.
He is also an active member of Somme Avenue Christian Church.
